Third-year Undergraduate in Fashion Business students Matilda Casani and Anastasiia Kim took the chance to collaborate with the team of Highsnobiety, a leading voice in the fashion industry known for its expertly curated content that pushes the boundaries of traditional style and trends.
During Pitti Uomo 103 at Fortezza da Basso in Florence, they had the opportunity to create content for the official social media account of Pitti Immagine's prestigious fashion industry fair. This is a unique opportunity for our students, as Highsnobiety is considered one of the best media platforms in the industry.
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Matilda and Anastasiia to hear about their experience and learn more about this exciting collaboration.
What was your favorite aspect of working with the Highsnobiety team at Pitti Uomo? And how did you become involved in the project?
Matilda Casani: Thanks to Polimoda I had the opportunity to work with the Highsnobiety team from Berlin and the freelancer @samutaro from London. My role was to help the team to create different kinds of content for the official Instagram page of Pitti Uomo, so basically I was operating as a social media intern.
From the first time I met with the team, I felt immediately at ease. They were all really open and super available with Anastasiia and me. We were able to learn a lot in just a short amount of time. My favorite aspect about this experience was to see how the real fashion industry works and the attitude and behavior that a person should assume while working in it."

"We were able to learn a lot in just a short amount of time. My favorite aspect about this experience was to see how the real fashion industry works and the attitude and behavior that a person should assume while working in it."
Were you also used to reading Highsnobiety before this collaboration? What were your favorite contents to get engaged with?
MC: "I have always been a great reader of Highsnobiety since before this collaboration. Being a global fashion and lifestyle media brand it features content that covers a wide range of topics and that is what I found really interesting about it. My favorite contents revolve around current trends and fashion business-related activities and challenges that brands undertake."
"At Pitti Uomo, Highsnobiety gave valuable suggestions, showed the entire process behind content creation, and revealed many useful tricks."
What did you learn from working with the Highsnobiety Team? And what challenges, if any, did you face while working on the project?
MC: "Even if this experience lasted just four days I was able to learn a huge amount of things. Beginning from the most important one: teamwork. This experience has certainly helped me to thrive in a work environment surrounded by different people with different mindsets. My colleague and I were able to listen and learn from one of the most talented people from the fashion industry. The team taught us important insights and methods on how to operate on social media and communication and as well on how to approach professionals.
One of the most challenging things was to give the best outcome I could in all deliveries, under pressure and within a short time."

What advice did you receive from the team you'd like to share with other students?
AK: "At one point, we were discussing the real world of fashion outside of the theoretical realm taught at school. Matthew and Kevin mentioned that fashion is all about the name and image; So, whoever has the bigger one, is at an advantage, therefore, it's super important to build an experience around the brand, for the audience to immerse in. For me, it was personally very enlightening. Of course, we're taught at Polimoda to build the brand and create the experience, but when taking it into perspective, the brand with the more notable name and stronger image really is the one that gets paid by the lesser."
