Polimoda in Seoul, a two-day event in South Korea, took place at High Street Italia on November 24th and 25th, where Director Massimiliano Giornetti met up with the vibrant fashion community in Seoul for an immersive experience in the world of fashion education, bringing successfully together passion, creativity and education in a two-day extravaganza.
“The enduring relationship between Italy and Korea represents a profound and lasting connection, rooted in shared values such as vision, luxury, and lifestyle. Notably, our idea of lifestyle, akin to the Korean approach, eschews ostentation in favor of a commitment to perceiving and seeking a high-quality standard. These shared principles make Italy, particularly Florence, an ideal destination for Korean students,” shares Director Massimiliano Giornetti. “Reflecting on my time as a Polimoda student, I vividly recall the significant time spent with my Korean colleagues. The striking cultural similarities fostered common ground for discussions about future goals, ambitions, and life perspectives.”
The event kicked off on November 24th with a captivating Masterclass on Luxury hosted by Director Massimiliano Giornetti. Participants had the unique opportunity to delve into the latest trends in fashion design, explore branding strategies, discuss sustainable fashion practices, and gain insights into retail and trend forecasting. Director Giornetti’s wealth of experience and expertise provided a valuable perspective on the dynamic landscape of the fashion industry.
On November 25th, Director Massimiliano Giornetti continued to inspire and guide participants through personalized Portfolio Reviews and Mentoring Sessions. Students and fashion enthusiasts had the chance to receive practical assistance, allowing them to evaluate and enhance their design work. These sessions were designed to prepare participants for a successful future in the ever-evolving field of fashion design.
“Fashion serves as a profound cultural expression, transcending mere garments and symbols to become an intimate and personal form of communication”, continues Director Massimiliano Giornetti. “Stemming from the culturally rich Korean background, my advice to emerging creatives entering the fashion realm is to authentically embrace their individuality and to be authentically themselves. Rather than conforming to trends, they should seek to convey a message through the language of fashion design—one that encompasses aesthetics, culture, ethics, and morals.”
