Fashion Design alumnus Domenico Orefice unveiled his latest collection, LUMEN, during Milano Fashion Week: a striking narrative runway debut from a designer who keeps friends, family, and Polimoda close to his heart.Â
Mention Domenico Orefice in the fashion world, and the first thing you’ll hear? He’s the nicest guy in the biz. His brand and determination know no limits in their ambition, and this collection reaches the peak, the summit, the light at the end of the climb.
LUMEN
Since his official debut collection launched in 2022, all his collections have been named after the various technical difficulty levels of climbs. LUMEN, on the other hand, represents the arrival at the summit, the ability to appreciate the goal that has been achieved, and the sense of success felt at the end of a journey.
Orefice has presented his work around the world: at Mados infekcija, in Vilnius, Latvia; at Pitti Uomo, in Florence, Italy; at Dubai Fashion Week, in Dubai, UAE; at Made in Italy day, at the Italian Embassy. in Athens, Greece; and of course, in Milan, during Milano Fashion Week.
This collection represents the designer’s high-tech Metaverse aesthetic mixed with sportswear tailoring that distinguishes the brand. Working from his atelier in Florence, Italy, Orefice has his sights set on even wider and higher horizons.Â
BACKSTAGE
The backstage buzzes with calm, constant activity. Orefice is clearly in pure work mode, his determination and belief radiating throughout the room, a space he has filled with dearly held collaborators, many of whom have accompanied him since his journey began at Polimoda.
Polimoda students, working as dressers and show assistants, are numerous throughout the space, demonstrating his commitment to working with new generations and providing experience to all who wish to follow his footsteps. Friends, family, collaborators, and the ability to work together as a team are key to the brand’s success, he declares in the backstage post-show moment, where his gratitude for everyone’s presence is evident and heartfelt.
