A new chapter begins for Polimoda Library, as the design phase of its future home in B11 at Manifattura Campus officially gets underway.
On the occasion of Manifattura Tabacchi’s press day, we announce that the redesign of Polimoda Library’s has been appointed to (AB)NORMAL studio. The appointment is announced by Laura Milani, General Manager since September 2026, and the Library is one of the school’s development priorities under the mandate of President Niccolò Ricci.
(AB)NORMAL is the studio that has officially been commissioned for the project by the Polimoda’s Board of Directors. It was founded in Milan in 2017 as an interdisciplinary studio working across architecture, design, and brand experience and is currently led by architects Mattia Inselvini, Davide Masserini, and Luigi Savio. The studio develops a lot of projects across a range of scales and formats, that are related to art, fashion, music and design. Its collaborations include Moncler, Versace, LVMH and many others. It has also created installations for Triennale Milano, the Venice Architecture Biennale, and various European museums and cultural institutions. In 2027, the studio will curate the Italian pavilion at the 20th Mostra Internazionale di Architettura – La Biennale di Venezia.
The Polimoda Library – Centro di Documentazione Matteo Lanzoni was founded together with the school 40 years ago. Today it holds more than 70,000 fashion resources, from books and lookbooks to trade catalogs, specialist magazines, and videos. It is a focal point for fashion knowledge, not only for students, but also for the general public and professionals of the fashion and production sectors. The new space will give the collection room to grow, and will turn the Library from a resource for students and faculty into an international center for fashion research, open to academic partners and to the city.
More details will be revealed soon, with work set to begin in early 2027.
