Course
The Master in Sustainable Fashion Design program is an intensive program designed to explore the world of fashion design while keeping sustainability at the core of our creative process.
This course is designed to equip aspiring fashion designers with the knowledge, skills and ethical mindset required to excel in the rapidly evolving field of sustainable fashion. Students will learn how to create beautiful, innovative fashion while minimizing the industry’s environmental and social impacts.
The primary goal of this course is to produce fashion designers who can lead the way in sustainable fashion innovation. By the end of the program, students will have the expertise to design and produce clothing that respects people, the planet and fashion aesthetics.
This program is organized into a series of carefully designed modules that provide a comprehensive understanding of sustainable fashion design. These modules include a combination of lectures, practical exercises, group projects, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for students.
Lessons are organized with teachers from the industry as well as guest lectures and workshops with outstanding professionals from the fashion system who will be invited to talk, inspire and empower our students.
This unique and hands-on learning experience includes a midterm and a mandatory final project.
The course includes a total of 700 hours of instructional activities and grants 80 Polimoda credits. The acquisition of credits is contingent upon passing individual subjects.
This course is completed with the possibility of an internship at a fashion brand or established fashion institutions.
Curriculum
The curriculum of the course includes a range of subjects that will help students develop their skills and knowledge in the field. Some of the key topics covered include:
- Foundations of Sustainable Fashion: Sustainable design processes and techniques, contemporary fashion and trends with a sustainable perspective, material selection and sourcing for sustainability
- Sustainable Fashion Innovation: Eco-friendly textile development, sustainable fashion marketing
- Sustainable Production: Ethical manufacturing, circular fashion systems
Requirements
In order to be eligible for this course, you will need to be selected after the admission process.
During the application you are required to upload a Portfolio including an overview of your previous work with samples and photos.
Basic requirements are:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) with motivation letter
- English language proficiency
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or professional work experience in a related field
- Previous knowledge of fashion design
