Polimoda, in collaboration with Pitti Immagine, presents The Designer & The Artist, two guest lectures moderated by media partner nss magazine, where dialogues around fashion, architecture and contemporary art meet.Â
The main speakers are Hed Mayner, Guest Designer of Pitti Uomo 109, and Marc Leschelier, architect, sculptor, and artist of the site-specific work Ancient/New Site, placed in Fortezza for the duration of the fair.
The Artist
Marc Leschelier - Shifting Identities: Art, Movement, and the Self
Marc Leschelier’s work embraces a deliberately unfinished aesthetic that celebrates construction’s messy, transitional phases rather than polished final forms, treating building sites and raw materials as sculptural subjects in their own right. This approach reveals an interest in exposing the violent, almost primal aspects of architectural assembly.
Moderated by nss magazine, the artist will investigate themes such as identity as a fluid construct, motion as a metaphor for transformation, and art as a tool for social reflection

The Designer
Hed Mayner – The Moving Silhouette: Fashion as a Living Form
Hed Mayner’s work explores fashion as a living form, celebrating the moving silhouette through generous volumes and fluid fabrics that respond to the body’s natural rhythm rather than constraining it. He engages with garments as animated sculptures that shift and breathe with their wearer, drawing from sacred traditions, military tailoring, and sportswear to create an open dialogue between structure and freedom.
Moderated by nss magazine, Pitti’s Guest Designer will investigate themes such as the silhouette as a dynamic structure, the symbiotic relationship between garment and body, and how tailoring and construction contribute to freedom of movement.

A shared project
Although presented as two separate lectures, The Designer & The Artist functions as a single conceptual project
Together, the talks trace a common line: form as movement, identity as process, and creation as an unfinished state.
For anyone attending Pitti Uomo, these lectures offer a rare opportunity to step outside the fair and enter a space of thought, research, and critical dialogue, where fashion and art are not products, but questions.
