Gaining success from a side hustle isn't fake news and John Dean knows this better than anyone. In 2011, Dean started Renowned LA during his senior year of high school. Then, while studying Business Marketing at Ohio University, the young designer took advantage of his community to let his brand gain traction. From strategic word-of-mouth to passing out fresh designs to close friends, he became successful before he had even graduated. Dean moved to Los Angeles to work on his brand even more, studying online and flying back to Ohio to finish his degree.
From Nicki Minaj to Tyga, Renowned LA made its way into the hard-to-break world of celebrity and is equally famous in the K-Pop universe. In 2014, Dean met Korean superstar Jackson Wang and collaborated with the artist and his team on the conceptualization of his personal wardrobe. He has also worked with Dok2, establishing the Korean rapper's brand in the United States and working as a creative director on his single cover art as well as other business ventures, even appearing on Korean television.
