A series of appointments in Seoul, South Korea, kick off this week for Polimoda, from guest lectures and workshops, to symposiums.
The second workshop of the Storefront Window Workshops series between Polimoda and Syracuse Architecture, Storefront Windows: Rise and Fall?, will take place from September 29 to 30. Led by Bing Bu, Director, Syracuse Architecture Seoul/Tokyo Studio Program; Jiwon Shin, Principal, Shinoh, Seoul; and Michael Hurt, Ph.D., Professor and Visual Ethnographer, it will be held at Ewha Woman’s University.
The workshop is part of the new Space / Brand / Strategy post-professional Master of Science degree program, launching in Fall 2026, between Polimoda and Syracuse Architecture. Most of the program will take place at Syracuse University, and it will include an immersive summer course capsule at Polimoda’s Manifattura Campus in Florence, bringing together design, branding, strategy, and business. The summer capsule will be open to students enrolled in the master’s program, and architecture, fashion design, interior design, and business students interested in retail design and management.
After that, a final review and symposium, Architecture of Anticipation, will also take place on October 1 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul, designed by Zaha Hadid. Eva Zimmerman, Strategic Advisor and Supervisor, Fashion Business Department, Polimoda, is invited as a speaker, as well as keynote speaker Yang Soo In, Director, Lifethings, Seoul. The lecture explores how contemporary fashion retail architecture is moving beyond the traditional shop window, replacing direct product display with strategies of filtering and spatial discovery.
Polimoda has also been invited for a session held by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea for its Luxury Committee. The Committee brings together professionals from Italian luxury brands (Prada, Moncler, Zegna, Gucci, TOD’s, Bulgari, etc) and Korean entrepreneurs in a dedicated setting for exchanging perspectives. The session is led and moderated by Eva Zimmerman, Strategic Advisor and Supervisor, Fashion Business Department, Polimoda, and will focus on trends in luxury retail, experiential marketing and cultural engagement’s role in shaping luxury retail.
Finally, Eva Zimmerman will give a guest lecture at Hongik University, Italy as a Fashion Laboratory, exploring fashion as a complex system that relies on the interaction of creativity, business, culture, and global markets, focusing on Italy as a case study as a luxury ecosystem.
