In a remarkable turn of events that has reverberated throughout the fashion world, Polimoda alumnus Davide Renne has ascended to the role of Creative Director at the iconic italian luxury label Moschino.
Born in Follonica, Tuscany in 1977, Davide Renne had been the subject of fervent speculation in Milan’s fashion circles for several weeks, with many tipping him as the natural successor to Jeremy Scott as Moschino’s creative helm. Davide’s journey began with Polimoda, and after four formative years working alongside Alessandro Dell’Acqua, he embarked on a storied career with Gucci in February 2004. His nearly two-decade tenure with the Rome-based fashion powerhouse culminated in his appointment as Head of Womenswear Design, where he bore witness to the transformative reign of Alessandro Michele.
This announcement ushers in a new chapter for the brand and highlights the remarkable talent and untapped potential embodied by Renne. His arrival promises a fresh infusion of creative dynamism into the realm of high fashion.
Reflecting on his journey, Davide initially envisioned a path in architecture after completing his studies at the Scientific High School. However, a relentless passion for designing women’s apparel compelled him to enroll at Polimoda in Florence—a decision that he describes as endowing him with “a sense of absolute freedom.” As he puts it, these studies paved the way for a creative odyssey that soon became his life’s calling. Following his graduation, he ventured into the world of fashion under the guidance of Alessandro Dell’Acqua, his first mentor and teacher in the industry. Subsequently, Davide’s journey led him to Gucci, where he spent two extraordinary decades as the Head Designer for Womenswear. The final eight years of this remarkable period saw him collaborating closely with Alessandro Michele, who ignited his ability to dream big, inspired and supported him in realizing his aspirations.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Davide on this momentous appointment and wish him the best of luck in his exciting new role at Moschino. May his creative vision continue to shine brightly on the global fashion stage.
