Course
Fashion Retail Architecture is an interdisciplinary journey into the design of retail spaces that bring fashion brands to life, blending architectural creativity with branding and business strategy. This short course studies experiential retail within the fashion and lifestyle industry, equipping students with the skills to design physical shopping environments that are both creatively compelling and commercially effective. It is open to master’s students as well as architecture, fashion design, interior design, and business students with an interest in retail store design and management.
Students will learn to integrate architecture, brand identity, visual merchandising, and retail business principles into a single, holistic design practice. Rather than focusing solely on aesthetics or function, students learn to create retail environments that express a brand’s values while responding to evolving consumer behaviors and omnichannel retail trends. The course aims to provide a thorough understanding of contemporary fashion retail design, offering an exclusive window into how space, storytelling, and strategy come together to shape memorable customer experiences.
Throughout the course, students will explore Italian fashion retail architecture firsthand through field trips, and translate research and observation into original retail design concepts. This journey, from concept to final presentation, is enriched with personalized feedback from professors who bring a wealth of industry experience. The main lecturers on this course are industry professionals and academic faculty who work with global brands, bringing hands-on and innovative teaching materials into the classroom.Â
