The next guest speaker for Polimoda’s Rendez-Vous series will be Massimiliano Giornetti, who will welcome students into the new academic year with a special lecture on the fashion world.
As one of the most talented Italian designers and creative directors of the moment, Giornetti will share how his dream to work in the fashion world all started; something that will be particularly relevant for Polimoda’s young designers. Giornetti’s career began in 1999 immediately after he graduated from Fashion Design at Polimoda, when he began working on the ready-to- wear and couture collections for designer Anton Giulio Grande, who is also a former student of the Institute.
In 2000, Giornetti began working at Salvatore Ferragamo menswear, where in the space of just two years, he advanced to become the Creative Director of menswear, and then soon after Womenswear as well. He in fact was the first creative director of Ferragamo, a brand which has found huge success over the last six years, thanks to the vision of Giornetti that built upon the strong traditions of tailoring and elegance at the house. One of his best moments was the first Salvatore Ferragamo Resort collection that was presented in 2011, the first ever fashion show inside the Louvre in 2012, which was the Ferragamo Resort 2013 collection, and the his final show for the house in February 2016, which has received with acclaim by international press and buyers.
Today all eyes are fixed on Massimiliano Giornetti, as his future is one of the most discussed topics in the world of fashion. We wonder when he will announce his next move.
