The Minister of Universities and Research of Italy, Anna Maria Bernini, visited Polimoda at its new Manifattura Campus.

The visit comes at an important time for the Italian fashion system where specialist education is of the utmost importance and has the potential to ensure the future of an industry that is calling out for investment in talent and innovation.

There are schools that teach and there are schools that inspire, by shaping young people and igniting visions, by nurturing talent and transforming it into trends. This is what Polimoda is — it is much more than a higher education institution, it is a place where the future of fashion takes shape every day, and it is quite literally stitched together through creativity and competence, beauty and strategy. Italian fashion is not just about aesthetics and runways. It is an ecosystem that brings together craftsmanship and industry, creativity and method. It is a form of thinking that tells the story of who we are as Italians: free, brilliant, and precise, with one foot in tradition, and eyes set firmly on what has yet to be created.”

Minister of Universities and Research

Welcomed by Polimoda’s President Ferruccio Ferragamo, the fashion school’s Director Massimiliano Giornetti, the President of the Region of Tuscany Eugenio Giani, the governing body, and a representation of the school’s associates and advisors, the delegation also met with students and teachers, listening to their ideas and learning about their projects, in an open dialogue on the present and future of fashion education.

The Minister and the delegation visited the building that will house the new Polimoda Library, a space currently being designed for studying and research within one of Europe’s biggest collections of material culture. The Minister’s visit comes at a crucial moment for Polimoda, currently in the process of official accreditation for several courses. This step is important and will make the fashion school’s courses more accessible, allowing students access to scholarships and educational credits, as well as ensuring an internationally recognized curriculum.
