For the first time, the LVMH professional training program, Institut des Métiers d’Excellence (IME), is expanding to Italy and has selected Polimoda as the first education partner in the country.
Beginning in October 2017, the Leather-Pro course marks the beginning of this official collaboration between LVMH and Polimoda, and will invite 12 students to build their skills and passion for handcrafted leather goods. Artisan craft is at the core of this course, and Polimoda’s Design Lab in Scandicci, thanks to its strategic location in the heart of the Florence’s region of leather production, gives students direct links with the industry and ultra-modern laboratories. The program will also include additional IME courses and master classes at the Palazzo Pucci, the headquarters of the IME in Italy, as well as at LVMH Maison ateliers.
This partnership is an important initiative for Polimoda, confirming the school’s competitiveness on an international scale and recognizing the success of our educational methods for fashion design and business professionals. It is also a major development for our region, recognizing it as a center of competencies and expertise and affirming the worldwide reputation of ‘Made in Italy’ excellence.
Thanks to the generous funding from the Region of Tuscany and the Fondo Sociale Europeo, this course will be completely free for these 12 students.
Launched in 2014, the Institut des Métiers d’Excellence professional training program ensures transmission of unique savoir-faire at LVMH Maisons to new generations through training at partner schools and collaborations with the Group’s Maisons, including Bulgari, Dior, Céline, Fendi, Loro Piana, Louis Vuitton, Veuve Clicquot and Zenith. IME already has training partnerships in France and Switzerland with BJO Formation, École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Compagnons du Devoir, Avize Viti Campus, Ferrandi Paris, École d’Horlogerie LVMH, EMASUP and EIML Paris.
The LVMH Institut des Métiers d’Excellence plays a vital role in perpetuating the excellence of our Maisons and in ensuring the perpetuation of these métiers. I am delighted to see the launch of this new program with Polimoda in Italy, an exemplary country regarding creativity, talent and fundamental savoir-faire that are essential to the LVMH Group.
The course will be taught completely in Italian, and applications are open now.
