Fading into Ferragamo

Master in Shoe Design students shine brighter

What if you had the chance to showcase your very own capsule collection in front of the Salvatore Ferragamo team, including James Ferragamo, Vice Chairman and Brand and Product Director, and Micaela le Divelec Lemmi, Chief Executive Officer. Would you take it? Our Master in Shoe Design students did.

On a warm Summer day in July, thirteen young talents were given some creative elbow room to showcase their work during a special field trip to the Salvatore Ferragamo Headquarters in Osmannoro. With a little adrenaline and a lot of impeccable design, Master in Shoe Design students rolled up their sleeves and presented their designs in front of the talented Salvatore Ferragamo team, including the footwear design team, the production team and human resources.

For this unique project, students had four months to design a capsule collection including 20 design proposals. From research to design development with a few hundred ideas to edit in-between, the final presentation included package design, store windows and interior design, social media advertising concepts, apps and filters. Students were also offered a mid-term review with the Salvatore Ferragamo senior design team and members of the product development  team.

Polimoda strongly believes students learn more through hands-on teaching, focusing on direct contact with luxury leaders and enhancing communication with enriching and passionate brands. Salvatore Ferragamo aces quality, yet the cut runs deeper than that. Exposing students to fashion industry experts firmly rooted in ‘Made in Italy’ tradition is one of the many reasons Polimoda graduates succeed in the fashion industry.

On this special occasion, Master in Shoe Design students took the opportunity to shine. From answering questions about their project to talking about the blood, sweat and tears channeled into their work, our students proved one of the simplest rules of education and life: if you work on something hard enough, you will keep getting better at it.

The Master in Shoe Design in collaboration with Ferragamo aims at developing a professional capable of designing and developing footwear with a strong and innovative creative direction. This is an irreplaceable educational journey and our students gave it everything they had.

Salvatore Ferragamo is a company with 92 years of Florentine fashion history under its belt and is one of the world’s leaders in the luxury industry with origins dating back to 1927. Dedicated to seamlessly blending style, creativity and innovation in every product, they are embedded in unmistakable heritage.

A big thank you to the Salvatore Ferragamo team and congratulations to our Master in Shoe Design graduates! We’re forever cheering you on and excited to see where your blooming careers will take you.
