Polimoda is Heading to Pitti Uomo 101

A Full Calendar of Events at the Global Fashion Event

From January 10th to 13th, Polimoda and its students are back among the protagonists of one of the most influential fashion events.

Polimoda is kicking off the new year with Pitti Uomo 101, joining international guests, renowned designers and emerging brands to discover the newest trends and talk about fashion.

Villa Favard, Polimoda’s main headquarters, will be hosting Inner Jardin Noir, an exhibition born from a unique collaboration between artist Sasha Vinci and Ilaria Bellomo, emerging fashion designer and recent graduate.

The Manifattura Tabacchi campus will open its doors to Marco Fortis' guest lecture with PwC, organized by Pitti Immagine. At the Fortezza da Basso, a stand dedicated to Polimoda talent will feature an installation curated by Fashion Art Direction, Fashion Trend Forecasting and Fashion Styling students with menswear garments by recently graduated designer Domenico Orefice.

Inner Jardin Noir, an installation by Ilaria Bellomo and Sasha Vinci
Polimoda presents a preview of Ilaria Bellomo, the homonymous brand founded by the Fashion Design alumna. An installation of garments in dialogue with works by Sicilian artist Sasha Vinci. An alternative dimension, a sort of Black Garden immersed in an undefined time and place; a dreamlike dimension that becomes reality through clothes. Just like material creatures, they come to life and tell their own story.

For appointments: press@ilariabellomo.com.

Ilaria Bellomo
A resurrection of black, understood not as a color but as a sensory element characterized by three-dimensional shapes, connecting it to a living and more natural dimension. Some garments are made with natural fabrics or in naturally occurring materials already in black, others are upcycled. Each garment comes to life, becoming a creature with a history and an identity, transforming itself into something new, placing itself in the present as a memory encapsulated in a physical body that travels through time. All garments are highly handcrafted and are made in Italy by expert tailors and artisans with production techniques that respect the fabric and our planet as much as possible.

Sasha Vinci
Eclectic artist, experimenting with different contemporary languages. His research has always been characterized by the use of different media: sculpture, drawing, painting, performance, installation, writing and music are combined in various ways in his projects. Each of his works, almost always site-specific, are to be considered a public action that originates from the individual to extend to a collective of people: it is about how we react to important social, political and environmental issues and how to acquire new codes of civil behavior. His works frequently synthesize the polarities of the human being, his opposing tensions, the lights and shadows that distinguish him. At the same time, however, they are strongly symbolic works, which speak of community and redesign a new form of reality, of the “possible utopias” that decode the present, seeking a way of more respectful coexistence between human beings and other species of living.

January 11-13
Pitti, Padiglione Medici, Fortezza da Basso

Installation by Domenico Orefice and Fashion Art Direction, Fashion Trend Forecasting and  Fashion Styling students
At the official stand of the school, Polimoda Fashion Art Direction, Fashion Trend Forecasting and Fashion Styling students will curate an exhibition that combines digital narration with a menswear capsule collection by Domenico Orefice, recent Fashion Design graduate. A project that integrates the active attitude of technical clothing inspired by extreme sports with the excellence of haute couture, for a new luxury that starts with innovation.
