Midway between Thanksgiving and Christmas, Polimoda All Stars combines seasonal feelings of gratitude and the compelling festive spirit into an original standout event for December 14th 2017.
In a year of global turmoil and change, this is Polimoda’s statement of cultural solidarity and long-established kinship towards Florence’s ever-growing international community of professionals, expats, students and creatives.
Polimoda was founded 30 years ago by the Fashion Institute of Technology and Emilio Pucci. Our president is Ferruccio Ferragamo, son of Salvatore, the shoemaker to the stars of Hollywood. Our headquarters are beside the American consulate, and there is a certain legacy that links the school to the USA. In addition to all this, our recent agreement with the Council of Fashion Designers of America provides a new basis to rekindle this overseas friendship.
Polimoda All Stars will offer the unique opportunity of spending an evening on Polimoda’s awe-inspiring grounds.
Access to the event will be granted only to those who have completed the online registration form or upon presenting a personal invitation officially supplied by Polimoda.
Registration is now closed.
We hope to see you at future Polimoda events!
Polimoda’s headquarters since 2011, Villa Favard is an incredible Renaissance-style palazzo located in the center of the city, facing the Arno River. Polimoda All Stars will take place in two different areas of the Polimoda campus: the Aula Magna will host the guest lecture and Q&A session, while the ground floor of the school’s magnificent main building will accommodate a welcome speech given by President Ferruccio Ferragamo, Florence’s Councillor for Economic Development Cecilia Del Re, US consul general Benjamin V. Wohlauer and Director Danilo Venturi; followed by a light cocktail party, a curated exhibition and live DJ set featuring Tropical Animals resident selectas Ricardo Baez and Michael Byrne.
Professor, chair, and creator of FIT’s new MFA Fashion Design program, Jonathan Kyle Farmer will be delivering his personal view on what changes are necessary to spin the Fashion system into a more sustainable orbit, both ecologically and psychologically. Curated by Art historian Aurora Fiorentini, the exhibition will put on display a selection of December Issues from the Polimoda Library’s well-stocked magazine archive, including back copies of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue USA. In fact, not many know that the institute houses the most significant collection of fashion publications in Italy and that this is but the first of a series of open exhibits aimed at showcasing Polimoda’s precious paper assets.
