In its first-ever partnership with ModaLisboa, Polimoda gears up for the upcoming finals of SANGUE NOVO – Young Designers Competition, a design contest offering one Portuguese student a prized spot in Polimoda’s Master in Fashion Design. Selected by a jury of esteemed fashion professionals, among which Polimoda Director Danilo Venturi, this opportunity affords an exceptional emerging talent the chance to showcase their innovative creations and break into today’s evolving fashion landscape.

“With the globalization of fashion and the growth of the industry, fashion has gone from being a mere artistic métier to becoming a form of world collective language,” explains ModaLisboa. “But the legacy will be both what is produced in the course of a career, and the pathway left for the new generations.” As a platform for promoting new talents, SANGUE NOVO plays the role of paving the way for new creatives to leave their mark, offering these visionaries the opportunity to contribute to reevaluating fashion’s core values.

Now, after a preliminary selection, the six finalists prepare to present their new FW 2019/2020 collections on March 8th before a jury of esteemed fashion professionals, which in addition to Venturi includes Miguel Flor, President of the jury and Creative Director of Principal Magazine; Alfredo Orobio, founding designer of Awaytomars; Cláudia Barros, Fashion Director of Vogue Portugal; and Diane Pernet, Founder and Director of ASVOFF. Together, the panel of experts will vote to select the ModaLisboa Awards for Best National Designer and Best International Designer.

The top national talent will be offered a scholarship worth € 26,000 to attend the upcoming Polimoda’s Master in Fashion Design beginning in April 2019 or October 2019, and will receive an additional € 5000 from ModaLisboa to be used towards living expenses for the duration of the program. The student’s collection ideated and developed during the course of their studies will be presented at the Sangue Novo show following the completion of the course – a real chance to showcase the fruit of their work and take their first steps into the industry.
