Polimoda is partnering up with Missoni for the new Master in Knitwear Design. President and Creative Director Angela Missoni announces the 9-month program starting in January 2020 from the family’s historic atelier in the midst of preparing for her upcoming women’s collection.
“Designing fabrics for clothing is something completely different from making a dress or a garment that comes straight out of a knitting machine,” explains Missoni. The Master in Knitwear Design provides an in-depth study of production techniques and materials, trend forecasting, merchandising strategy and collection planning, forming the knitwear designers of the future.
“We need young designers specialized in knitwear. Polimoda will offer students all the technical skills necessary by combining creativity and research. Missoni will support students from a practical point of view, through special meetings within our factory.”
During the Master, Missoni will host students at the company’s headquarters in Sumirago for a period of direct experience in the field. Students will be able to observe all the phases of the genesis of a collection, collaborating with the design team by working within the creative and operative heart of the company.
“Our task is to guarantee the preparation of future professionals in the sector and to do this, we collaborate with the greatest international players: among these, Missoni represents an undisputed reference point in the knitwear world.”
The Master in Knitwear Design begins in January.
