This morning, Consuelo Castiglioni announced her departure from the brand she founded and directed for over 20 years. A few moments later, Francesco Risso’s name appeared.

Since leaving Polimoda in 2005 after studying Fashion Design, Francesco went on to work for Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Prada, and now, the largely unknown designer is the Creative Director of one of the most important Italian labels.

Marni is owned by Only The Brave, the parent company of Renzo Rosso who also own Maison Margiela, Viktor & Rolf and Diesel. Since 1994, Marni has created garments and accessories with a directional yet wearable approach. A favourite amongst editors and fashion insiders, Marni has grown to become one of the most adored and distributed brands in the world.

How will Risso will continue and evolve this iconic fashion house? We’ll have to wait for his first collection for Men’s ready-to-wear in January and then women’s in February. Francesco, congratulations and best of luck!
