“The key to a more conscious and responsible mentality is education, that is why industry and educational institutes have to unite efforts in fostering the new generation of talents if we want to create a sustainable fashion system” – comments Danilo Venturi on the ongoing collaboration with Vogue UA.
On April 17th Polimoda visited Ukraine to take part in the special event in Kiev, inaugurating Vogue UA’s educational project On The Sixth Floor that will provide lectures and master-classes on all aspects of the fashion industry and become a platform for discussing relevant fashion trends. Danilo Venturi became the first speaker of the project giving an insight on the efficient branding strategy to the audience of Ukrainian fashion entrepreneurs, designers, journalists and influencers.
Within the frames of the event, Danilo Venturi and Vogue UA Editor-in-chief Olga Sushko announced the winner of #SaywhoyoUAre, Instagram contest that aimed at awarding one scholarship worth 26.000 euro to attend the upcoming edition of Polimoda’s Master Course in Fashion Marketing and Communications.
One of Vogue’s missions is searching and supporting emerging talents, all the more so in collaboration with the industry’s leaders. We realize how important it is to be a mentor for numerous talented people. Such projects are an investment in the development of the fashion industry in general.
Finding a raw talent is an emotional moment. Giving a talent an opportunity to grow is a great satisfaction. The joint contest with Vogue UA was an incredible occasion that combined both elements. The only disappointment was not having another 10 scholarships to award all participants who deserved it. We will definitely launch more similar initiatives in future.
The contest, which closed on the April 11th, was open to Ukrainian citizens and was a part of Vogue UA’s 5-year anniversary celebration. The winner, Alex Barkov, who is currently finishing his bachelor’s degree in Politics in Kiev, has an experience as a backstage manager at Mercedez-Benz Kiev Fashion Days and designer’s assistant at ARTEMKLIMCHUK fashion brand. Barkov will start the Master in Fashion Marketing and Communications at Polimoda on June 11th 2018.
Being part of Polimoda is an honour not only for me but also for the whole country. I am thankful for the opportunity I am given and I believe that knowledge and experience I am about to get in Florence will cardinally change my life.
