Digital Fashion is a cutting-edge and forward-looking program, forming Chief Innovation Officers capable of dealing with the most urgent and critical turning points of tomorrow’s fashion such as the digitalization of the entire supply chain and the quest for sustainability in product development, operations, merchandising and retail. The main levers of disruption are the combination of creativity and technology in the industrial environment and the smart use of Big Data, from hyper-personalization to new ethical materials.

As a master course, Digital Fashion features four main modules dedicated to understanding how to challenge the status quo: Fashion Operations; the engineering of pure creativity, Product Development; from analog craftsmanship to the digital environment, Retail & Merchandising; how to welcome and communicate with the new 3.0 client and Fashion Startup; successfully running a data-driven business, both online and offline.

The Digital Fashion course is run by teachers and international lecturers with expert experience, ensuring hands-on and in-depth knowledge of the industry. It includes field trips to a major company and a trade fair as well as internship opportunities. The course concludes with the application and completion of two main projects: the creation of an innovative and unconventional product to be launched in the market and the conception of a business plan for a data-driven fashion startup.

Lessons take place from April to December and amount to a total of 700 contact hours. There is the possibility of completing the course with an internship at a fashion company, leading to the overall obtainment of 80 credits. English language proficiency and attendance are required. Candidates will be selected after an enrolment questionnaire and an interview with the course’s leading teacher.

Upon completion of the Master, students will be automatically given the possibility to partake in the Polimoda Talent 2019/2020 program.

Fashion Lexicon, Product Development & Industrialization, Textile Science, Craft to Business, Sustainability in Fashion, Color Theory and Printing Technologies.

Merchandising & Retail
Category Merchandising, Global Merchandising, Consumer Behavior, Digital Media, Retail Trends, Customer Acquisition & Experience and E-commerce Management.

Fashion Start-Up
Startup Business and Management, Business Plan Tools, Graphic Design, Elevator Pitch and Investors: from Accelerators to Business Angels.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the master course, students will be able to:

  • Oversee, improve, perfect and re-think all the steps of the fashion industrial cycle, focusing on the supply chain and the logistics.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of materials, techniques and pipelines in the fashion industry.
  • Understand and implement new methods related to design development, material selection and the manufacturing of fashion.
  • Use all the necessary strategic tools of retail management at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrate expert judgment and ethical responsibility related to professional practice in fashion entrepreneurship.
  • Manage all the operative tools related to merchandising techniques.
  • Ideate, start and successfully run a new data-driven fashion business.

Equipped with a forward-thinking personality, a graduate in Digital Fashion can become a Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), Chief Operations Officer (COO), operations manager, entrepreneur, digital manager, e-commerce manager, project manager, strategic planner, retail manager, product developer, fashion merchandiser or a digital executive at a fashion company.
