Alumni Day

On the final day of Business Links, Polimoda will launch the official Alumni network with a day dedicated to our former students who make up Polimoda’s community of luxury and fashion professionals is worldwide, spanning across the Institute’s 31 year history.

The event will take place at our favorite Villa Favard in Florence on Friday, the 31st of March 2017.

Selected alumni will have interviews with Italian and international headhunters, in order to take their careers to the next level. The day will also include the Alumni Night to celebrate the launch of Polimoda People, which will include a networking cocktail in the evening amongst the live sound design of an international artist, and a 6-chapter exhibition of garments and accessories from the recent collections of design alumni.

Location

The first official Polimoda People event will take place in Florence, the city of art and adopted home at one point for all Polimoda alumni. Florence is also the host of the G7 Culture Summit that will take place during the same week.

Polimoda’s headquarters since 2011, Villa Favard will house the event. This space is an incredible Renaissance-style villa full of frescoes and secret passageways, and is situated in the centre of the city, facing the Arno River.

Alumni Night

The purpose of this event is to bring together as many alumni as possible, and for the first time ever. Come and meet everyone you never knew attended Polimoda across the last 31 years, and who are now working at high levels across the industry. Alumni, teachers, influencers and Polimoda staff will gather at Villa Favard in Florence at 8:00pm for a cocktail and to view the exhibition.

The official sound artist during the event will be Yasmina Dexter. Yasmina’s Pandora’s Jukebox has been featured on the likes of Dazed and AnOther, and she has recently collaborated with brands including Miu Miu and Alaia.

Fashion Exhibition

To create a special atmosphere during the evening, an exhibition with live models will take place throughout each corner of the Villa. Six emerging designers who have recently graduated from the Institute have been selected. They have each gained incredible attention from international press and received awards from across the world – including presenting on the VFiles runway, features across Italian, Mexican and Japanese Vogues, and a place in the iD International Emerging Designer Award – and on this evening will present some of their iconic pieces.

The exhibition will be multi-thematic, combining the worlds of fashion, curation and contemporary culture, through collections that reference the hip-hop universe of Young Thug, the avant-garde tones of Alexander McQueen, and recent events of American politics.
