On Thursday, November 15th, Sara Sozzani Maino, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia and Head of Vogue Talents, will take the Rendez-Vous stage to unpack the industry-changing world of Vogue Talents. Figurehead of the Italian fashion magazine for nearly two decades, the newly appointed CNMI ambassador is internationally recognized for her scouting abilities, reigning as a true champion for emerging talents.

Maino’s first fashion dabblings date to the Milanese landscape of the early 90s; despite spending most of her adult life at Vogue (“she’s practically grown up at the magazine,” write the editors), she got her fashion start at the newly opened 10 Corso Como boutique in Milan. It was in 1994 that the creative took her first steps in the editorial world as an intern at Vogue Italia, and the rest is history.

As a leading figure of Vogue Italia, Maino has played a central role in the development and growth of its Talents supplement. The project, conceived in 2009 as a means of supporting emerging designers, extends far beyond is editorial dimension and functions as a full-on network for spotting the best creative talents in womenswear, menswear, accessories and fashion photography. The platform directly links designers and the fashion industry, supporting the development of opportunities and new collaborations.

A regular attendee of global talent spotting events, Maino furthers her mission of supporting new talents as judge for numerous fashion competitions, including the LVMH prize, ITS (International Talent Support), the Designer’s Nest Award, the H&M Award and the Milan Fashion Film Festival, among others. In her role at Vogue Italia, she has also fueled a number of new initiatives for young creatives, including the The Next Talents and Who is on Next? organized by Vogue Italia.
