Definition:  A piece of glass, plastic, wood, crystal, gem, or other material bored through the center and strung on leather, cord, thread or chain to wear as a necklace, bracelet, anklet, headband, or used for embroidery. Usually round but may be cylindrical, square, disc-shaped, pendant-shaped, oblong, etc.

Context:  Many sequins and beads - especially polystyrene beads - are unable to withstand drycleaning and dissolve. Some of the colors applied to the surface of these beads and sequins, along with the glue and adhesives used to apply them, may also dissolve during drycleaning.
