A fabric that is used to cover the inside of a garment to provide a finished look. Generally, the lining is made of a smooth lustrous fabric.

Context:
The lining should be cut slightly larger than the jacket, in both length and width, even though it is placed inside. The constant pulling and friction which the lining is subject to will cause tears in the lining fabric if there is not sufficient lining ease.
