A fabric construction in which a layer of fill—often down, cotton or batting—is sandwiched in-between two other fabrics, usually by stitching the layers together in crisscross lines. Often used in outerwear and sleepwear, quilting adds warmth for cozy comfort. It can also be used to provide bulk.
