Noun phrase
Uncountable
Definition:  Resist printing involves a two-step procedure in which a design pattern is printed on a white or dyed fabric with chemical or wax that will prevent the dyes from penetrating the fabric. When the fabric is dyed, the color is absorbed only where there is no resist. Then the resist is removed.
Keiser, Garner, 2003
Context:  The production of designs by means of resist-pastes and indigo-dyeing is considered to be the oldest method of decorating textiles. This view is strengthened by the fact that in India cotton cloth decorated with a combination of resist painting and resist printing were being produced long before the start of the Christian era.
