Each year, one final-year Polimoda Fashion Design student is selected to travel to Japan for a special exchange program we have with Osaka Bunka Fashion College.
This year Federico Cina was that special student, and on January 27th/28th will present his final collection in Bunka’s prestigious fashion show. This is the core of the annual exchange program, in which a student from each institute has a period of study abroad for research, cultural understand and to find ideas and creative concepts for their collections, and then to participate in the final show of the other institution. And so in the coming months, Polimoda will be delighted to receive a young Japanese designer, who will experience life in Florence and the teaching methodology of Polimoda, and then participate in the Polimoda Fashion Show in June along with the institute’s best in-house talents.
This experience has given me the opportunity to come closer to Japanese culture and philosophy, which has very deep differences from the Italian counterpart. I’m learning a lot, not only for my professional growth, but also in my personal growth; learning to move alone in a new reality and in an international context.
