Polimoda International Institute of Design and Marketing was created and financed by the Comune of Florence and Prato and trade associations in collaboration with the Fashion Institute of Technology of the New York State University.
Polimoda holds high-quality specialized courses in fashion design and in the production, sales and marketing sectors, in collaboration with the Region of Tuscany, the Provinces of Florence and Prato and with subsidies from the European Union. FASHION DESIGN COURSE - undergraduate
The fashion design course provides students with the necessary technical and theoretical knowledge to be able to work as a fashion designer.
Students will learn how to develop fashion collections, from concept to finished product. Future fashion designers will observe and assimilate details and ideas suggested by art, history, ethnic sources, the environment, past and present events, fashion trends and apply them to their projects. This knowledge will give students the tools to meet market demand in the constantly changing world of fashion.
At the end of the final year, students will exhibit the collections they have developed during a fashion show/gala, which is attended by members of press, government and business community.
There are dynamic links with the fashion, textiles and knitting industries. Professionals from the field, in the form of both instructors and guest speakers, will put students into direct contact with the needs of the modern-day industrial world. Students will get to carry out projects in cooperation with the clothing textile industry and exhibit their garments in fashion fairs.
FOUNDATION IN FASHION DESIGN - IN ENGLISH WITH ITALIAN LANGUAGE LESSONS
This complete foundation program serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of the fashion system and prepares students both technically and linguistically for further studies in Fashion Design.
Essential for getting into any specialization, this basic program leads the students through all of the production steps related to the making of a fashion collection combined with daily Italian language lessons starting at an elementary level. In addition to the Fashion Design lessons and language lessons, there will be seminars and company field trips that enrich the in-class training.

FASHION DESIGN MASTER - ADVANCED
This program is a highly-specialized intensive course intended for young fashion designers who hold at least a post-secondary degree or who have just begun working. Its aim is to enhance their professional skills through the study of the subjects necessary for planning, producing and presenting a fashion collection in a convincing and professional way.

FASHION DESIGN - SUMMER COURSE
This summer fashion design course will offer students the fundamental instruments required to create and present a fashion collection, including basic illustration, fashion trends, fabric choice and graphic presentation.
