TERMINOLOGY
AND SEMANTIC WEB TECHNOLOGIES WORKSHOP(14
December 2001)
The main goal of the workshop is to achieve cooperation
among pre-existing terminological resources, translation projects,
integration among the sources,
software selection, handling methods and techniques, indexing
criteria, training modules, user orientation paths.
Since the last meeting in Florence (Firenze University Press, December
2000, www.unifi.it/e-press), the terminological groups worked through
e-mail exchanging ideas, projects, and terminological lists.
As of today the following groups have been formed in the following
areas:
Economics (Unioncamere, IsvorFiat,
LIUC, IRER, Università, Mediaset, Deutsche Bank),
Information/Communication (Mediaset,
Infocity, University of Bologna and Firenze),
Fashion (Istituto Internazionale
Polimoda, Archivi Alinari, Galleria del costume),
Health and safety (Ministero della
Sanità, Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Ispesl, Arpat),
Gegraphy (Archivi Alinari, Ulissenet),
Law (IDG, LIUC, Mediaset).
It is important to continue with the harmonization of methods, sources,
standards.
Bearing in mind that the next international meetings on the same subjects
will be held in February in Barcelona, May in Paris and June in Bruxelles,
it will be necessary to draw up a paper about the Italian experience
in the field of translation and terminology.
