  FASHION HOME & SPACE DESIGN AN INTRODUCTION
Aims

The most famous fashion houses are completing their range of products with ideas for furnishing the home - e.g. Armani/Casa, Versace Home Collection - and for the business and hotel sectors e.g. Hotel Sixty. The course gives an introduction to how we lives and experience our homes and workplaces, meeting places and places of transit: hotels, conference centres, trade areas such as showrooms and shops and temporary architecture such as trade fair stands. Behind every project there is careful research into full and empty spaces, light and shade, and proportions, all aimed at transforming the places where man lives his life in line with his needs for comfort, individual expression, congregation, efficiency and communication.

 
Study Plans

Module 1 Analysis and Theory
The following topics will be analysed: brand extension strategies, evolution of the home and home culture, space as a strategy in interior design, comprising signs, symbols and codes, communication strategies in consumer spaces and the psychology behind the perception of shapes and objects, evolution of hotel space and trends (boutique hotels, luxury hotels, fashion hotels).

Module 2 Project
Wide-angle projects will be developed on: Furniture as a means of expression and its psychology - new hospitality and consumption models - textile products for the home (bed linen, curtains, cushions, tableware and accessories, rugs) - wall decorations - materials for the home (pottery, straw leather, wood, etc).

 
 
Interior Designer - Product Designer - Fashion Coordinator - Brand Art Director - Graphic Fashion Designer - This figure will be able to work both on a small scale, in the world of craftsmanship, and on a large scale, dealing with small and medium-sized companies.
 

Admission

 
There is direct admission to the course for graduates in architecture, communication sciences or equivalent - students from academies for fine arts or design and graphics schools - candidates with a large amount of work experience. Knowledge of the main software packages is required: Photoshop, FreeHand/Illustrator.
 
Duration  

The course lasts 1 month.
From 1 to 25 July  2008
4 hours a day from Monday to Friday

Time:  9:00am – 1:00 pm

1600 euro + 90 admission fee  (Euro 40 refunded if the course does not go ahead)
