Contemporary fashion accessories and especially the handbag, represent the signature details of a designer's collection and the defining elements of individual style. To design a creative handbag collection, specific technical knowledge is required to give form to a personal design identity. Italian leather goods are famous world wide as beautifully crafted objects of premier quality materials. The luxury market's status brands demand fabulous handbags and leather goods that transform this tradition through innovative research to produce consistently special and desirable designs. The magnificent 14th century 'Castello d'Acciaiolo', located in the heart of the luxury accessory district, houses the Polimoda class rooms and laboratories. Staffed by experts, they are dedicated to creative experimentation within a framework of traditional excellence. This course provides an experience of full immersion working with professional resources such as manufacturers, designers, craftsman and trade shows.

Students will create a personal handbag and accessory collection developed under the guidance of  qualified professionals:

Specialized  Italian for the profession
Visits to the luxury leather sector
Tradeshows and manufacturers
Guest workshops

At the conclusion of the program, a select jury of professionals will judge the collections to be presented in an innovative showcase during Florence’s International Fashion Season
 
Eligibility  
The course is open to grads (or equivalent) holding a valid Bachelor degree preferably Fashion Design, Footwear Design, Arts, Industrial or Product Design. Proven working experience in the field for candidates without a University degree will also be considered. Fluent knowledge of English is required.

Admissions  
Admissions are limited to 10 students.
The admission exam consists of:
Written exam auto biographical and motivational
Portfolio
Interview (by phone for International students) with Head of Department
 
Course duration
