Masters in Luxury Management is targeted towards graduates wishing
to establish a management career in companies which deal in luxury.
Methodology
A degree will be obtained by final assessment and exams. Final Thesis
or projects will be based on "off hour" work. The course
is divided into two semesters, for a duration of approximately 9
months inclusive of 3 month internship. Non EU citizens can replace
the internship with a semester in Applied International Fashion
Management, a three month experience where students get the chance
to carry out consultancy projects for the industry, tutored by a
Polimoda lecturer.
Yachts - Italy is among the biggest world
manufacturers of luxury yachts. Students visit leading companies,
obtain first hand knowledge from their executives and proceed in
class, assisted by lecturers, to analyse management systems for
the luxury yacht sector. Visit to the "Salone Nautica di Genova"
or other major yacht shows are programmed.
Wines - a fully fledged course in Italian wines - with wine
tasting experts - wine management in and out field and visits to
primary wine fairs and vineyards.
Hotels and restaurants concepts of luxury hotel and restaurant
management taught by field professionals, visits to famous restaurants
and deluxe hotels.
Fashion and leather industries - luxury fashion as conceived
by "Made in Italy", merchandising and management lectured
by professionals and visits to several companies.
Automobiles and motorcycles - The management of luxury cars
and motorbikes - visits and lectures to primary industries - case
studies and fields trips.
Furniture and Home Textiles - Italian furniture and home
textile industries - studies of their cluster systems - testimonials,
field trips and testimonials in class.
Perfume and Cosmetics - international beauty in luxury -
case studies of primary industries, their marketing and management
strategies.
Table hollowware, flatware and china - international table
hollowware companies - their peculiarities, distribution systems
and merchandising.
Design objects - luxury design objects - visits and case
studies involving lesser known luxury manufacturers with high potential.
Jewellery, costume jewellery and watches: Italian luxury
and design jewellery and costume jewellery - history - trends -
field visits to luxury and high end manufacturers.
Field Trips and Testimonials
The unique strength of this course is based on frequent field trips
and testimonials based on Italian Luxury brands. Students have the
outstanding opportunity to visit several companies or shows belonging
to the Luxury process and pipeline. Testimonials are significant players
in their companies. Many lecturers have or are working for primary
companies of the sector.
