The
course objective is to learn the basic technical skills and knowledge
needed to create skirts, vests, shirts, and trousers. It will also
include an introduction to the techniques necessary for transforming
these basic designs, in order to achieve a finished product. It will
deal with garment-making techniques, the history of fashion, textile
science, fashion-plate techniques, and Cad computer science. The study
of these elements within the course program guarantees basic and specific
professional training.
Methodology
The course is taught by highly qualified professors who are professionals
within the fashion sector. It includes mainly hands-on lessons, which
foresee the use of Polimoda's various laboratories. Students will
have the possibility to practice their craft in labs equipped for
pattern-making, sewing, design, and computers. The course program
includes visits to garment-making industries that work with cloth,
leather, and fur. Students will also visit textile and fabric-making
companies. For the more theoretical classes, the curriculum includes
a series of on-site visits to related museums and exhibits. During
their semester assessment period, in addition to hands-on exams, students
will do photographic research projects in style and design. Theoretical
assignments will also be given in preparation for final exams. |
