Innovation and development are the keys to success in business.
The main aim of the course is to produce professional figures such as the Trend Forecaster and Trend Specialist capable of foreseeing future trends in textiles, colours and forms, but also of best interpreting them to create new collections.
Factors and tendancies that influence trends and consumer behaviour.
The Master course will provide students with an accurate understanding of global trends, whether social, political or ecological, as well as of those factors which influence future trends and consumer behaviour.
Applying ideas and cultural phenomena.
Course participants will learn how to analyze cultural ideas and phenomena, and to apply these not only to fashion, but to any given design field (such as textiles, furniture, cars, etc.).
A solid grounding for the Fashion Forecaster.
Course content embraces the wide range of subjects relating to the concept of trends. Aspects of contemporary culture and modern philosophy will be considered in order to provide a solid grounding that will enable the student to develop the skills and qualities of a future trend forecaster.

The course focuses on four main subjects: Cultural Analysis; Fashion Analysis; Material and Colour Analysis; Industry Translation.
Cultural analysis:
A forum of ideas on cultural movements and analysis of the directions of recent phenomena and predictive thinking have followed, through the study of magazines, exhibitions, cultural events and other media.
Fashion analysis:
The language of fashion and design. Students will become familiar with the terminology and concepts relating to the sector. They will learn how to be aware of and absorb new ideas to create future trends and how to identify new points of reference in the field of fashion and styling. Research will be carried out in the area of new sub-cultural ideas and their influence on new trends in design.
Materials and colour analysis:
Analysis of one of the most important aspects of trend forecasting. Thanks to the strategic location of Polimoda, students can discover the most advanced developments and innovations for fashion in the leather, yarn and textiles industries. Visits will include such fairs as Linea Pelle for leather manufacturers and Pitti Filati for yarn production.
Skills application:
How to make use of the knowledge and experience acquired in the various business sectors – from suggestions regarding form and colours to brand strategy.

Cultural Studies: Contemporary cultural phenomena.
Contemporary Fashion: recent developments in fashion from catwalks to student shows. A global view.
Contemporary Art: The importance of the current art world and the study of various movements.
Graphic Design: How make your presentations effective in print and digital format. Introduction to Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and various presentation methods.
Materials Research: Introduction to leather and textiles. New materials research.
Colour Theory: Basic theory, usage of colour and the referencing systems. The study of interaction and the culture of colour.
Sociology of Fashion: A key element to understanding fashion movements and changes in fashion.
Fashion Writing: How to express your ideas professionally and clearly.
Design: Analysis of product design, interiors and architecture in contemporary context.
Branding: How to brand your product effectively to make it something desirable.
Presentation Techniques: How to present and sell your prediction with confidence.
Visual Communication: Photography, drawing, moving image for an effective final product.
Course Project: Participants will produce a personal research project and will also work as a team to develop a trend package.

Eligibility
The Master Course is open to graduates (or equivalent), degree students preferably in Design (fashion, product or other relevant fields) or in Business Management, and professionals with at least 2/3 years experience in the sector. A good knowledge of English is required. For internships in Italian companies, Italian language is desirable.

• practical test;
• interview with the Course Director.
