This course trains students to become qualified visual merchandisers for all categories of fashion retail.

Highly specialized strategic subjects are taught by fashion industry professionals. All subjects are independent and supplement each other.

Knowledge acquired in lectures will be supported by students’ private study. Students’ research is mandatory and will be an integral part of the programme assessment.

elegibility

The Master is open to graduates (or equivalent) holding a valid university degree preferably in marketing, economics, business administration etc. Applicants with other university degrees or with prior working experience in the fashion marketing industry will be considered. Fluent knowledge of English is required.

COURSE|STUDY|PLAN

Elements of Visual Merchandising. Form, Function, Fabrication, Finish, Fenestration, Freedom. How to use, understand and effectively interpret the basic elements of visual merchandising.
Contemporary Visual Merchandising. Field research and reporting of contemporary visual merchandising techniques which are analyzed through fashion retail performance.
Elements of Visual Communication. Interior Display: Location, Visuality, Personality, Self Service, Showcase, Counter, Environment, Wall, Ledge, Aisle, Island – the advantages and disadvantages. Market Project Study.
Visual Merchandising Graphics. Using software to study, present or enhance visual merchandising projects.
Elements of Window Display. Single, Series, Related, Programmed, Promotional – Open, Closed & Semi Closed Windows – Departmental and Promotional. Display techniques and their strengths and weaknesses in major fashion window displays.
Light Box & Lighting Management. Learn the fundamentals of lighting and its effective use in visual or special events.
Special Event Elements (Organisation, Location, Timing, Target/Audience). How to organize special events: show party, catwalk, promotion.
Principles of Fashion Merchandising. An intensive course covering various aspects of merchandising, sourcing strategies, product knowledge, financial merchandising, buying. It will be taught by buyers, and executive merchandising specialists who possess thorough, field-based know-how.
Research Project AIM - Applied International Management. Students learn research techniques; they will develop and present a report for a primary fashion company on contemporary market factors for the fashion sector.
Specialised Visual Merchandising Methods.  A group of “In depth” operational tools for specialisation in VM. This course will be taught together with the AIM research project.
Fashion Promotion. Special events such as organisation of a fashion show and other promotional events. Sales promotion and PR activities are also covered. The course is taught by a professional fashion promoter.
Budgeting for Visual Merchandising & Special Events. Understanding the finance and cash flow necessary to support visual and special events projects.
