The Fashion Technology Course trains professionals able to manage the production of manufacturers’ or designers’ products to correct quantity and quality specifications, professionals who can work and manage international designers, production teams, suppliers, and clients.

Technology is not something that we automatically connect with the emotions evoked by fashion. This makes it an even greater challenge to engineer the intangible and create fashion by exploiting tradition, craft, innovation and new technology.

In a complicated and competitive global market, efficiency is crucial, and this calls for well-trained profiles that can manage a complex creative process from head to tail.

During this 3-year Pattern Design Course you will develop the techniques of pattern design, cutting, draping, sewing and the production of men’s, children’s, and women’s wear collections. You will learn how to develop your creativity and apply this to your designs, sketches and technical drawings; you will study and analyse historical, ethnical costumes and contemporary designers’ collections and create garments in professionally equipped laboratories. You will apply different skills: carry out research, establish your own pace of working while respecting deadlines, creating and producing prototypes for a collection, and developing a presentation of your own projects. You will learn how to contextualise the language and terminology of fashion, specialise in textile and fibre innovation, as well as dyeing, printing and finishing processes. You will become familiar with the international fashion culture essential to understand globalisation, the importance of design identity, and the competitive strength of “Made in Italy”. You will be trained in the different techniques that are applied in the professional production process, both traditional and innovative: from cutting structured and unstructured garments for men and women to computer aided design, AutoCAD, Excel and Illustrator. A range of design products, from garments to accessories, will be analysed and optimised in terms of quality, fit, manufacture, and innovation. Essential issues of Collection Management will be applied such as Line Planning, Supply Chains, Production Standards, Budget Control. Creative, strategic and managerial skills will be practised through workshops and group sessions in which product development scenarios will be analysed and applied.

An internship of 3 months in Italy or abroad (in accordance with Italian and International Law) will enable you to acquire experience in a working environment and give you the opportunity to put your skills into practice. You will have gained the knowledge and ability to enter the workplace and embark on a brilliant professional career.
