Red - Polimoda Show 2012

In year one the course begins with basic skills ranging from graphics, academic drawing, fashion illustration and computer graphics, to pattern design, sewing, and knitwear. Classes on the history of costume and textile science are taught simultaneously with creative design. You are encouraged to study and analyse the crucial moments of history and culture and how these developments can contribute to tomorrow’s fashion.

Three garments will be created and realised, a dress, a tailored jacket and a knitwear garment.

In the second year you will concentrate on concept and research. You will create a first silhouette after analysing, synthesising and interpreting different sources related to art and fashion. You will be able to compose your first collection of 5 outfits applying variations, fabrics, function, and accessories.  A collection book will be created showing your identity with your graphic work, a line plan, flats, pictures, fabrics and colours.

During the third year you will participate in team projects at a professional level within the creative, managerial and communication areas of fashion. Essential issues of Collection Management will be applied such as Line Planning, Supply Chain, Production Standards, Budget Control, Pricing and Customer Relationships.

Create, strategic and managerial skills will be practised through workshops and group sessions in which product development scenarios will be analysed and applied.

You will work in a team together with artisans, pattern cutters, art directors and marketing and communication managers to develop products on different projects following a brief, giving you the possibility to broaden your competences as a team player.

The final year is dedicated to strengthen your identity as an authentic Fashion Designer. You will design, manage, and communicate an innovative vision and realise a collection of 8 outfits.

You will learn how to set up a Fashion Business, write a business plan, find partners, and relate to press and clients. During the course we will tutor participation at international fashion talent competitions.

At the end of the four-year course you will be able to present your portfolio and thesis collection to professionals in the industry, talent scouts, buyers and the media – becoming a distinctive author capable of creating and realising a signature collection.

An internship of 3 months in Italy or abroad (in accordance with Italian and International Law) will enable you to acquire experience in a working environment and give you the opportunity to put your skills into practice.
