ISIA in Florence, Polimoda and the Florence Centre for Italian Fashion, promote a new Fashion Design Course established by The Ministry of University and Research (Law n.147/2006, 27/04/2006).
A triennial educational project made of basic and specialized activities, at the end of which students will obtain a first level, Academic Fashion Design Diploma (after discussion of dissertation).
An internship is included in the triennial course of studies.

ISIA (Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche) is a university level, state school dealing with Design, ranging from product to communication. The Florence Centre for italian Fashion (CFMI) is a no-profit association based on private and public funds, borned in 1954 and aimed at promoting and realizing inernational, commercial and promotional projects in order to support Italian Fashion. CFMI holds 85% of Pitti Immagine and provides general and political guidelines for promotional fairs; it also holds 50% of Ente Moda Italia, a company operating in the field of international fairs. Another associate is Sistema Moda Italia, an association representing fashion industries within Confindustria

GOALS
This is a very prestigious triennial course, at the end of which students will obtain a first level, academic design diploma, established by The Ministry of University and Research in collaboration with ISIA Florence, Polimoda and Florence Centre for Italian Fashion.
This course is aimed at training professional profiles able to suggest innovative and original solutions for carrying out the entire development process of a project; creative people able to oversee technological-productive as well as socio-cultural and economical sides of the market, finding aestethic, innovative solutions thanks to a deep knowledge of several cultural and artistic disciplines.

The course is aimed at achieving the following educational goals:
Granting a high-quality education concerning all those disciplines that define the cultural, scientific and economic environment of the fashion system.
Developing a specific sensitivity for artistic, contemporary languages and an inclination for continuous professional update.

Developing an inclination for innovation able to follow social changes, market events and technological development.
Providing students with a good knowledge of professional activities management.

credits

Fist level, academic fashion design diploma, obtained at the end of a three-year course of studies, 180 credits and after discussion of dissertation.
Average credits per year: 60
Attendance is mandatory, 70%minimum for each course.
Total time dedicated to individual study and educational activities is:
2/3 of total time commitment for theoretical courses; half of time committment for practical courses; for individual lab activity and internships, credits will be assigned on the basis of 100% of activity carried out by students.

Credits for each single course will be aquired through exams and other means of verification. Credits will also be assigned for free activities and other activities carried out outside the institute as a result of collaborations and agreements with other institutions, companies, research centres, professional studios and other Italian or international educational institutions: credits assignment must be approved by the Academic Board.

course devolopment

The triennial course is divided into basic, educational activities and specialized activities; computer science classes are also included in this course, as well as preparatory activities for final exams; study of foreign languages; internships and work orientation activities.

diploma

At the end of three years and after the discussion of a dissertation, sudenst will obtain a first level, fashion design diploma. This diploma will allow students to attend masters and biennial specialization courses at ISIA, Universities and Academy of Fine Arts, or to obtain a second level diploma.

Course is open to candidates with high-school diploma, or other diploma obtained abroad and legally recognized. Admission exam includes the following: - written exam
