The master in Bag Design is aimed at providing a well-rounded education in the area of Leather Accessories. The course merges constructive techniques and hands-on craftsmanship with a strong creative approach.
Panning across the study of state-of-the-art innovation in materials and production techniques, as well as the underpinnings of merchandising management and collection planning, the Master has the goal of developing a professional capable of designing and developing accessories (leather goods, belts, small leather goods) with a strong and forward-thinking creative direction.
Lectures will be held by esteemed business professionals and the course will feature the direct intervention of executives and representatives from the industry. Throughout the 9-month syllabus, students will have access to international guest lectures and field trips to the headquarters and production plants of relevant companies in the Florentine area.
Students will be asked to develop 2 main projects: a Mid-term Project (capsule collection) and a Final Project, (main collection) valid as a personal portfolio.
Prerequisites: previous studies in Fashion Design, Accessories Design or similar or professional experiences in the business.
Lessons take place from January to September and amount to a total of 700 contact hours. Thereafter, there is the possibility of completing the course with an internship in a fashion company, leading to the overall obtainment of 80 credits. English language proficiency and attendance are required. Candidates will be selected after an enrolment questionnaire and an interview with the leading teacher of the course.
Upon completion of the Master’s students will be automatically given the possibility to partake in the Polimoda Talent 2018/2019 program.
Depending on previous experience and academic achievements, employment can be found within the areas of Bag Design, Product Development, Accessories Merchandising Management.
