Our industry is evolving and therefore we as professionals must also. In order to foster adaptable employees, there first must be a clear link between today’s courses and today’s careers. Skills mismatch is something that loses time, output and money for both employees and companies. Then, an ongoing dialogue with the industry is key. Creating an overlap between our worlds is key. This is what will move the industry into a new space.
For this edition of Fashion Displacement, the discussion will be focused on adapting young professionals to the evolving industry, and the panel will be made up of fashion and job-market experts from around the world.

This edition of Fashion Displacement will take place in Florence, the city of art and heart of production for Italian fashion, as well as the host of the G7 Culture Summit that will take place in the same week. Polimoda’s Headquarters known as Villa Favard will host the discussion in its grand ballroom; a fitting space for this event and the invaluable ideas that will come as a result.
This panel discussion follows the success of the first edition, which was held in New York City in November, 2016. Panellists including Suzy Menkes (International Vogue Editor), Aimee Song (Founder of Song of Style), Burak Cakmak (Dean of Fashion Parsons School of Design) and Fabio Piras (MA Fashion Course Director at Central Saint Martins), discussed how fashion education could be redesigned in our current times of change.
