On Friday, the enigmatic American rapper Young Thug released the cover of his new album JEFFERY wearing none other than a total look designed by Polimoda alumnus Alessandro Trincone.
The union of these two is unlikely, yet fitting considering their trailblazing attitudes in the realms of gender and aesthetics. In the Global Campaign for Calvin Klein earlier this year, Young Thug stated “In my world, of course, it don’t matter. You could be a gangster with a dress. Or you could be a gangster with baggy pants. I don’t feel like it’s no such thing as gender.”
The JEFFERY album cover has received worldwide attention, going viral immediately and reported by Dazed Digital, WWD and WMagazine, as well as Billboard, The Fader and fellow artist Erkah Badou.
You might have seen last week that Alessandro Trincone was announced as part of the official selection for VFILES RUNWAY, the fashion show known for showcasing emerging designers who push the boundaries of fashion, design, gender and politics.
This show will open New York Fashion Week on September 7th. Good luck Alessandro!
